SUBMISSION GUIDELINES.

The best way to know Soft Skull Press—to know any independent press, for that matter—is to read the books we have published over the years.

The tastes of Soft Skull editors run the gamut, but we do have definite tastes.

Soft Skull Press accepts unsolicited submissions, but not complete manuscripts.

For fiction and nonfiction submissions, send a cover letter and sample chapter no more than 30 pages, and an outline of the rest of the book. For graphic novels, send a minimum of five fully inked pages of art, along with a synopsis of your storyline.

Sadly, we can no longer accept unsolicited poetry manuscripts.

In all cases, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, as well as your address information—snail mail, phone, email—on your cover letter.

We will ask for a complete manuscript if we are interested.

Because of the volume of submissions we receive, we can't promise
a personal response.

We also can't accept International Reply Coupons (the Post Office here won't accept them) and we can't promise your submission won't be lost. Don't send anything expensive or irreplacable, please, please, please.
