Greetings from Softskull!

Just a reminder about a few upcoming events. Tonight, November 7th at 7:30, John Giorno will read from his new book, Subduing Demons in America at the Rubin Museum in Chelsea. And, he will be reading at the McNally Jackson bookstore with a Q&A lead by Soft Skull author Douglas Martin on Monday, November 10th at 7 pm. Also this week the Brooklyn Library will be hosting two great events: The Brooklyn Independents Series on Wednesday, November 12 at 7 pm (the series features a consortium of highly regarded, cutting-edge independent literary publishers, including Soft Skull!), and a discussion lead by Comic artist David Rees, author of Get Your War On and journalist Matt Taibbi author of Spanking the Donkey.

Tonight! Friday, November 4th

John Giorno Reads from his new book Subduing Demons in America at 7:30 at the Rubin Museum in Chelsea located on

150 West 17th Street,
New York, NY 10011

The reading will be followed by a book signing in the Lounge area of the Rubin Museum, and will likely devolve into an extended celebration of demons, America, subduing, and books in general. The whole thing lasts until 10 PM. This event is free and open to the public. Also, a special bonus-event, set to occur directly after the party/demon/signing: Rosanne Cash and Joe Henry IN the Rubin Theater, and at 9:30, Francine Prose introducing the epic, the unmatched, the Criterion-collected and unanimously celebrated "Battle of Algiers.

The Brooklyn Independents Series features independent publishers like Akashic Press, BOMB Magazine, A Public Space, Tin House Press and Soft Skull. It is supported in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
