Hi from Soft Skull!
There's a reading this Friday by New York poet John Giorno at the New Museum on the Bowery (address below). He will be reading from his newly published anthology of collected works from his fifty-year career, titled 'Subduing Demons In America: Selected Poems 1962–2007.' There will be a book signing and reception afterwards.

Giorno is known for his intense performances, having used found materials and montage techniques in the past to augment his explosively experimental work; in 1965 he founded Girono Poetry Systems to explore the use of technology in poetry.
Along with Giorno's work, the exhibit will also feature the fine art collection 'Live Forever: Elizabeth Peyton' and a comprehensive catalogue designed by the award-winning Graphic Thought Facility featuring essays by Iwona Blazwick, John Giorno, Laura Hoptman, and a large section of artworks, photographs, and ephemera organized by Peyton.
The reading is free with admission to the art exhibit.
