Greetings, salutations, etc, etc!

We’re moving into October, right now. The thermometer is plunging downward but the coming events will keep you more than warm.

First off, Friday, October 3rd at 7pm Daphne Gottlieb will be at Bluestockings, 172 Allen Street between Stanton and Rivington. Daphne, Kate Bornstein, and Carol Queen will be discussing Sabrina Chapadjiev’s “Live Through This: On Creativity and Self-Destruction.” It’s a collection of essays, artwork, and prose from women dealing with violence, depression, and madness. Also on Friday, Jeff Martin will do a reading at Barnes and Noble, 7:30 – 8:30pm in Greenwich Village, 396 Ave of the Americas and 8th Street. He’ll be reading from his new book, “The Customer is Always Wrong: The Retail Chronicles,” a collection involving the hilarious and unfortunate indignities of the underpaid and over-worked. Contributors to this anthology include Elaine Vets (Dead-End Job mystery series) and Jim DeRogatis (Let it Blurt).

Next week on Thursday, October 9th at 7pm Cristy C. Road will be at Barnes and Noble, 106 Court St. in Brooklyn. She’ll be promoting Bad Habits, her fictional memoir about lust, drugs, and self-discovery at the beginning of the 21st century. Her book’s a great read if you haven’t already checked it out. The illustrations are sexy and awesomely strange.

The next day, Friday, October 10th, David Rees will be reading from his new novel, “Get Your War On: The Definitive Account 2001-2008” at 7:30 pm at Word Books, 126 Franklin Street. The evening promises to be rife with politics, war, and topical discussions.
