Tis the season when cultural authorities bestow their imprimaturs and while we can't really live for these things, lest we die from their typical absence, when they happen, we can't help but take note of them, thusly:

Hudson News Top Ten of 2008 for All About Lulu by Jonathan Evison

Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year for How the Dead Dream by Lydia Millet and The Solitary Vice by Mikita Brottman

And, while it is not strictly a "Best Book" type thing, The Customer Is Always Wrong edited by Jeff Martin was this week's book pick for The Very Short List—listen out for the author detailing the travails of the retail worker on NPR's All Things Considered today, Black Friday.
